That early spark ignited a lifelong love of writing—a moment he still calls priceless. After high school, his talent caught the attention of Shekinah Bell, wife of Robert “Kool” Bell from Kool & The Gang. Recognizing Michael’s gift—and his shyness—she threw him into the spotlight, having him perform his spoken word at the legendary Manhattan nightclub, Nell’s. It was terrifying, but transformative. From that night on, storytelling wasn’t just a passion—it was a purpose. Michael went on to spend nearly three decades in Los Angeles, working in the television and film industry as a writer, where his work was shaped by the influence of greats like Aristotle, Robert McKee, and Blake Snyder.
